It's November. This month we celebrate Thanksgiving, a holiday where we gather with friends and/or family and give thanks for all God has provided for us. This happened first at a Pilgrim and Native American harvest celebration in the 1600s, not too far south of Boston, and became a national holiday in Abraham Lincoln's time. I'm looking forward to the dinner, of course; the food and the company will be great. But it is good to give thanks more than one day a year, right? So, inspired by my friend Kit, Elizabeth and I began our family's November 'Wall of Thanks' this morning. When we're thankful for something, we can write or draw it up on the wall.
Will you join us this month in giving thanks? Keep a journal or a wall record of the many things you're thankful for. I think we'll be amazed at how much good God has poured into our lives and how meditating on that changes us.
For reflection: Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. I Thes. 5:16-18
